2nd edition of cnot: issue 7, work together
CNOT #7: Zine Summer Sale
Zine Release: Work Together
currently not on tour (cnot) no. 7

For the seventh installment of Currently Not On Tour, I kicked it up a notch and asked some friends to contribute. It includes delicious vegan recipes, stunning & brutal photographs, mystical drawings, an article about metalheads & nuclear warfare and a montage of female metal musicians I have shot over the years. The cover features the ass and legs of contributor Vanessa America. And yes, she IS forever punk, forever drunk.
Issue no. 7 will be available at St. Vitus Bar on Sunday July 24th, where I’ll be showing some photography with a bunch of friends (a total of 15 artists). It is also available for purchase through Lulu. For distribution inquires please email me at Hello@JustinaV.com.
Get the download for $4.99. Get the heavy stack of smooth paper for $12.
Artists: Vanessa America, Karlynn Holland, Kim Kelly, Sam Marble, Justina Villanueva
56 pages. Saddle-stitched binding. Fancy paper.

cnot magazine: issue 6
I’ve spent most of 2011 traveling from Falls Church to NY and back again. It’s been a mix of fun and real life events that push and tug me from place to place. Live music has not been as much of a part of my life as it has been years ago (or even just a year ago). For instance, last March and April I covered concerts roughly 4-8 times a week. In March 2011 I went to exactly 4 shows. And, the performances were mostly by bands I’ve already seen a handful of times (Meek is Murder, Tiger Flowers, Torche and Hull).
Issue six embraces more of my personal life and less of new talent. I started this magazine hoping to share with people my experiences of the extremely diverse New York City metal scene. Each issue incrementally advanced with more personal photographs. Then in August I decided to try life south of the Mason-Dixon line. In this time I’ve connected more with the mundane world, presenting more images of nature in this magazine. Many moments of extreme isolation and boredom contributed to my vision. I guess sometimes one is limited so she/he can be liberated.
Bands included: Tiger Flowers, Drugs of Faith, Meek is Murder and one band’s debut show
The 16-page magazine is available for $4.20. A digital version is available for $1.50. To get e-mail alerts of when issue 7 will be available, subscribe to my newsletter.

currentlynotontour.info launch
some time last year I started using the moniker currently not on tour. it came from some photo promos I was putting together. somewhere along the way I started calling my zine by the name and now my blog. in celebration of putting together issue six, I went on a domain-buying-spree. a whole 89 cents gone, just to prove my 16-page magazine will be no bullshit. (Is that a double negative?)
meanwhile, I’m putting the finishing touches on issue six: spell checking (example: naplam death), color proofing (so greys don’t look blue) and making sure I don’t forget any photo-gems. in about two weeks it will be ready for purchasing. the printed issue will be 4.20usd and the pdf download/ipad-ready version will be 1.49usd.

Issue 5: The Landscapes Edition

Welcome to 64 perfect bound pages of landscape photography. Don’t worry, there is still some grindcore concert imagery, including bands with frontwomen that can kick your ass vocally and physically. For this issue, though, I wanted to sum up some ongoing projects: like my on tour photos and home series. The ratio of beautiful open spaces to rough, tight textures is even. This heavy magazine perfectly fits on your coffee table, desk or shelf.
Issue 5 can be ordered through Magcloud for 24.00USD and can be shipped to almost anywhere in the world.
Issue 4: Fans & Film

I’ve worked on this 16-page issue for months. I’ve sweated in the thrash-pit trenches with Kreator fans. I’ve gotten Jello Biafra’s sweat on my face. I’ve walked through bitter cold snow and swamp-like heat to get to these shows and it was always worth it.
Preview the issue here at Magcloud
I have a bi-monthly zine that I publish through Magcloud.com. Unfortunately they can only ship to the US, Canada and the UK. So I’m selling some myself for a flat rate of 8.50 usd. The 16 page issue will be shipped in a bubble envelope or cardboard mailer. I’m also throwing in a small print for free. If you have any questions or special requests, shoot me an e-mail at justina@englishwaffle.com.
Issue 2: Sound & Light Of The Fall

Yes, the name is a bit tacky but I was listening to Opeth’s ‘Your Arms, My Hearse’ a lot the day I put the finishing touches on this one. Share your thoughts and shoot me an e-mail at Justina@englishwaffle.com. Also, right now MagCloud is giving 25% off on all their magazines, making this issue only 4 bucks. Click on the cover to check out a preview.
This magazine is about the music Justina Villanueva covers on an almost nightly basis. It includes photographs of bands that have played underground shows in New York City: Agrath, Binary Code, Black Dahlia Murder, Black Cobra, Black Tusk, Converge, Decrepit Birth, Dysrhythmia, High on Fire, Malkuth, Narrows, Red Fang, Rwake, Shudder to Think, The Amenta, Toxic Holocaust, Trap Them, Vader and Warbringer.
Basements, Blood and Noise

This November brings many things. My birthday. A bunch of bands I can’t wait to see: Rwake, Baroness, Melt Banana, etc. But, the coolest thing about this November is that I’ve started a monthly magazine that can be ordered through Magcloud. It features photos of Tiger Flowers, Municipal Waste, NJ Deathfest, a bunch of other bands and only costs about seven bucks after shipping. Photo editors and art directors can contact me at justina@englishwaffle.com for a copy.
